Yu Cheng
Yu Cheng, a compassionate physician and MD, was born on January 8th, 1941, in the war-torn Chongqing City. After a valiant fight, he peacefully passed away on July 16th, 2023, leaving behind a profound impact on those he cared for. For an impressive span of 40 years, Yu dedicated himself to the well-being of patients at Shandong Agricultural University in China, where he became an integral part of the community.
Yu adored his parents, Jiyun Cheng, a renowned forestry professor, and his mother, Zhixian Wu, a talented painter and educator. He found inspiration in their accomplishments and aspired to model himself after their dedication and passion. They instilled in him values of hard work, compassion, and a love for knowledge, which he carried throughout his life.
Throughout his remarkable life, Yu faced a brave battle with Parkinson's Disease, demonstrating incredible strength and resilience for 17 years. Despite the hardships he endured, he continued to provide unwavering care and support to those in need. Sadly, his journey was cut short due to complications arising from COVID-19 and subsequent ailments.
Yu is survived by his loving wife, Lirong, his devoted son, Wei, and his cherished daughter, Li. He also leaves behind his adored granddaughter, Chang Liu. Yu's family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In addition to his medical career, Yu possessed a deep passion for sportsmanship. He was a great amateur table tennis player and showcased his talent as a member of both his alma mater (Shandong Medical University)'s school team and the university team he later worked for. Yu's dedication to the sport mirrored his commitment to his patients, exemplifying his drive for excellence and perseverance.
Known for his selflessness, Yu was a guiding light who always went above and beyond to help others. Although he didn't follow a specific religious practice, he held firm beliefs in God, which shaped his compassionate nature and influenced his interactions with the world.
Yu Cheng's absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless lives he touched during his esteemed medical career. His legacy of kindness, unwavering dedication, and sportsmanship will continue to inspire all those fortunate enough to have known him.
May he Rest In Peace.
Deeply condolences of Doctor Cheng Yu. So sorry of the big loss of his family . Mr Cheng , the best friend of my parents , is always being admired as such a great talent and a super smart classmate they have ever had.
I still can’t believe this news. Because Uncle Cheng was such an optimistic and life-loving person, positive and cherishing every moment of life.
Just yesterday, I took my son swimming, and he swam so well. While sitting there, I was reminiscing about the days when our families went to swim in the reservoir together. Uncle Cheng’s care for others, along with his various hobbies, convinces me that his life was fulfilling and enjoyable, optimistic and full of warmth, happy and full of vitality, though brief, it was meaningful.
Now, there are no more thickets in the courtyard, and the sound of crickets is gone from our lives, and there is no more Uncle Cheng in this world. Please, Brother Cheng and Sister Cheng, take care and find comfort. Let Uncle Cheng watch over you from heaven, witnessing every joyful and fun day you have.
Wei, my friend, I feel so dearly sorry for the loss of your loved dad!
I knew Doctor Cheng long enough, he was a great doctor and good Ping Pang player. He is a resilient and dedicated example in work and family I admired. He loves his family even during his long fight to the disease. He is resting in peace with the creator. I will pray for your family and yourself! May you treasure the legacy he left and have a fulfilled life. May God bless your family!
