William Norman Johnston
It is with great sadness the family of William (Bill) Johnston of Edmonton announce his passing at the age of 79.
Bill was born to Cliff and Freda Johnston and was raised in Jasper, alongside his sisters, Wilma England, Beverley Thomson, and the late Shirley Johnston.
In Jasper, Bill became an avid supporter of girls sports and coached both the Jasper Colts hockey and softball teams. Many of his former players continued to keep in contact with Bill over the years.
Bill was a gifted writer and would share his poetry with family and friends. He enjoyed genealogy and spent hours searching for important family history.
Bill loved animals and had many pets over the years, who now await to greet him as he crosses the rainbow bridge.
In remembrance of Bill, the family asks that any donations be made to the Edmonton Humane Society in his name.
My heartfelt sympathies to Bill’s family. May shared memories of him give them solace now and always. He is in a better place surrounded by his furbabies. Bill loved humour and I’m sure he’ll be busy telling them all jokes and reading them the poetry he’s written. May he fly high like an eagle over the mountains he so loved. He will be missed.
Rest easy Bill you are and will be remember as a kind, generous soul whom I was blessed to have befriended all those years from the past. Again RIP my friend.
Rest in peace Bill you will always be remembered for your dedication and commitment to the youth of Jasper. Until we meet again ❤️
You are missed Cousin Bill. Our shared ancestors and love of genealogy brought us together at a family reunion in 2000. I can just imagine all the stories you are now hearing and family mysteries that are being solved.
Rest in Peace Bill, surrounded by your fur babies. Please send us a clue to the Johnston Ancestry. Will miss all your genealogy help. Cousin Cathy Cadd
RIP Bill , I hope you are not in any more pain, and were meet by all your furry friends !
Rest well neighbor !!
RIP cousin Bill…
It was such a pleasure to have known Bill through the genealogy world. To know that we were cousins and to be able to fill in the missing pieces of the James Cassils side. He was such a gifted person. He will be missed.
