Wendy Joan (Mackasey) Bunney
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wendy Joan Bunney, of Leduc Alberta on May 24, 2024 at the age of 66. Wendy passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at Pilgrims Hospice.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband Rick; brother Michael (Judy) Mackasey along with many extended family, friends, and beloved cat Willy. Wendy was predeceased by her Mother (Joan) and Father (John).
Wendy was born in Kitimat, B.C. and moved to Manitoba with her family. Her love of horses led her to work at the racetrack in Manitoba. Eventually she was drawn to the Calgary racing scene where she met Rick and where they started their life and adventures together. Wendy then left the track and worked at Costco for many years in both Edmonton and Leduc. However, her true passion was travel, and she spent the last few years of her life working diligently to establish her TravelOnly travel business.
Wendy had a zest for life, her sparkling energy was contagious, and she found the best in every person and pet she ever met. Wendy loved exploring new places, there was a special place in her heart for her Kootenay Lake Cabin. She loved kayaking, fires by the beach and fresh fruit pies. Wendy always had a beautiful garden in her yard. She was a wonderful hostess; she made every occasion special with her thoughtful small touches. Wendy was a fiercely loyal and supportive friend. She found the joy in the little moments of life, and she helped others find it too.
Thank you to her many friends for their kindness and our heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Pilgrims Roozen Family Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation of Alberta (ARF) or the charity of your choice in honor of Wendy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday June 20, 2024 2pm in the Triple Crown Room, upstairs at Century Mile Racetrack and Casino 4711 Airport Perimeter Rd, Edmonton
