Our prayers are with you and your family. Feel God’s comfort around you at this time and forever for he is watching over you.
My families hearts are with you and your families. Russ was one of those guys who became a “brother” the first time we met him. It was on the 1984 picket line at Burns Meats in Winnipeg. My four kids were walking the picket line with my husband and I. He seemed to just naturally speak with each one of the kids, giving them each a dollar to buy ice cream. He, along with union brother, Dennis Leavey (Red), provided support (and protection) for me at national bargaining and other union activities. It wasn’t all that friendly an environment for a female union activist. Russ also was one of those few friends that even if you hadn’t seen or spoke with him for months..years even, I could just telephone when we came into town and he’d meet us for a coffee or more likely a Canadian or rye. Thank you for sharing your precious time with him . Take care of you.

I am saddened to hear about Russ’s passing, I want to send my condolences to his family and friends. I had the pleasure of working with Russ at Inovata Foods. He was a kind man who loved to laugh. He passed down his parking spot to me when he retired. He told me the spot was reserved only for Ford trucks.
