Rennie Wallis Watson
On May 29, 2024, Rennie Wallis Watson died peacefully at the Sherwood Care facility in Sherwood Park,
Alberta. He was 85 years old.
Rennie is survived by his brother Hervy; his three children Cassandra, James, and Gregory; and by his
four grandchildren Tatum, Matthew, Hannah, and Katie. He was preceded in death by parents James
and Mary, brother Daniel, and sisters Olga, Eunice, Sheila, and Johanna.
Rennie was born on June 25, 1939 and grew up in or around Rochfort Bridge, Alberta. He was married
three times throughout his life and had three children. With first wife Cheryl they welcomed Cassandra
in 1966 and James in 1967, and with second wife Annette, they welcomed Gregory in 1971.
Rennie spent the majority of his working life employed with Alberta Government Telephones where, at
the age of 53, Rennie was able to enjoy an early retirement. This allowed Rennie to travel extensively
and he spent the next two decades splitting his time between Edmonton and Thailand, where he greatly
enjoyed the warm climate. He met and married his third wife, Taem, while in Thailand.
Rennie was an avid reader and through this became extremely knowledgeable in a wide variety of
topics. He had a love for trivia, geography and crossword puzzles and his idea of an ideal afternoon was
heading down to the local pub to enjoy a cold pint with a few good friends. His keen mind and quick wit
will be greatly missed.
At Rennie’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
