Randy Edward Kowalyk
With sadness and love we say goodbye to Randy Edward Kowalyk, who passed away peacefully in his sleep at age 71 on February 15 th , 2024, in Edmonton, Alberta.
Randy was born on April 19 th , 1952, in Wynyard Saskatchewan to Edward and Alice Kowalyk. He spent his formative years near Wynyard along with his two younger brothers, Murray and Rick.
Randy graduated from Wynyard Composite High School in 1970. After graduation he worked for the Saskatchewan Power Corporation. He returned to Wynyard in 1973 where he worked for Crawford Foods, Sunnyland, and Lilydale, holding various positions during his tenure.
Randy married Dorothy Reschny in 1974 and they had two sons: Ryan and Braden. During his time in Wynyard, he was a very active member of the community, volunteering with the Kinsmen, Ducks Unlimited, and Curling Club. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, travelling, and camping.
Randy was an avid sports fan and loved cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Edmonton Oilers, and his favorite curlers.
In 2004, Randy moved to Edmonton, Alberta along with his family. Before retirement he worked for the Problem Gambling Resources Network (PGRN).
In retirement, Randy enjoyed attending festivals, concerts, events and spending time with friends and family. He was a beloved member of the Virginia Park Lodge community. He could frequently be found helping others with technology, exploring on his scooter, and sharing his excellent cooking.
Randy will be missed but never forgotten. He is survived by his sons, Ryan and Braden (Taylor); brothers, Murray (Rose) and Rick (Kim); nieces and nephews, Shauna, Mark, Crystal, and Chad; numerous Reschny in-laws; as well as special friend Donna.
A celebration of life will be held for Randy at 11 AM on March 2nd , 2024 at the Highlands Golf Clubhouse at 6603 Ada Blvd NW, Edmonton. A service will be held in Wynyard Saskatchewan at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the PGRN by mail to 3312 Parsons Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T6N 1B5, or at the celebration of life.
