Raimund (Raymond) Stadlwieser
Raimund (Raymond) Stadlwieser passed away December 25, 2023, at the age of 90.
Raimund was born in Vergötschen, Tirol, Austria on January 22, 1933, and immigrated to Canada in 1954 to work on his Uncle Anton’s ranch. In 1956 his childhood friend Kreszenzia Mary Larcher, accepted his wedding proposal and travelled to Canada to marry him. They settled on the farm outside of Beaumont in 1959. He worked at the University of Alberta for many years, and on the farm supporting his family.
He was a devoted loving husband, a constant guiding presence and father to eleven children. Throughout his life, he remained faithful and supportive to the Catholic church and his heritage and roots in Kaunertal. Farming allowed him to nurture his love of animals, and there was often a cat, dog, calf or cow seen following his every footstep.
Raimund and Kreszenzia Mary maintained close relationships with their family in Europe and built strong friendships in Alberta.
Raimund will be lovingly remembered by his eleven children: Anton (Shirley), Roy (Rachelle), Joseph, Richard (Martha), Mary (Pierre) Bitz, Diana (Steven) Pellegrin, Clarence (Leah), Bernard (Heather), Daniel (Treena), Helen (Matthew) Schuck, Benjamin (Colleen); twenty six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his sister Margret (Erich Truby), and in-laws Gusti, Adele (Aulu Etzel), Rosmarie (Josef Pregenzer), Hedi (Anton Mark) and Hubert (Elfriede); as well as by extended family, nieces, nephews and many close friends.
He was predeceased by Kreszenzia, his loving wife of 65 years, his parents Alfons and Bertha (née Penz) six siblings: Josef(Peppi) (Irma), Arthur (Elfrieda), Karl, Erna (Herr Billich), and in infancy Margrett, and Joseph, four in-laws Elsa (Franz Lentsch), Fini (Ludwig Larcher), Eugen (Rosi), Erich (Evi).
He was a quiet, intelligent and gentle soul, watching over all around him. He touched so many hearts with his honest, trusting ways.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vital Catholic Parish in Beaumont, AB on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 10 am.
The interment will take place at St. Vital Church Cemetery.
Aufrichtige Anteilnahme 🕯️
Ruhe in Frieden!
Liebe Familie Stadlwieser, unser aufrichtiges Beileid 🕯.
Many years ago my friend Anne Zauner and myself traveled through Canada. We stayed a few days at your parents house and they gave us a warm welcome and showed us what they build up for themselves, their children and they showed us the beautiful surroundings of the area where they lived. We had a wonderful time and they where both nothing but kind and welcoming.
I am a granddaughter of Peppi (his oldest brother) and I remember talking to my grandfather about his brother in Canada. He was so proud of him!
We’re wishing your family courage and peace during this time of mourning.
Yours sincerely,
Iris and Jan-Willem Kliffen-Stadlwieser
With heartfelt sympathy we pray for peace and comfort to all your family at the passing of a true gentleman.
