May 14, 1925 - February 23, 2024
It is with immense sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Dad/Dido/Gido at the remarkable age of 98. Born in Radway, AB to Katie and Mike Marko, Nick was the eighth of 12 siblings, and the last survivor of the Lesik-Marko family. He is now reunited with Lillian, his loving wife of 57 years. Nick will remain forever in the hearts of his children, Doyle, Della (Tim), Darrell (Andrea), Valerie (Michael), Vivian (Marvin); grandchildren, Taisa (Aaron), Miranda, Taryna, Alita, Calissa, Shayla (Corrigan), Rychelle (Daniel), Cheryce, Sharyiah, Emilia, Isaac; great-grandchildren, Carrick, Rhett, Mila, Rhylan, Adalyne, and Haelan; along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Nick’s unwavering dedication to his family defined his life. His spirit was a vibrant tapestry woven with Ukrainian culture and tradition. He delighted in sharing his passions, from dancing, singing, playing the guitar and harmonica, and engaging in lively card games well into the night. A masterful flower gardener and an exquisite Christmas decorator, Nick’s creativity knew no bounds. We find comfort in the memories of his stories of the farm, infectious laughter, humorous expressions and jokes, and unwavering zest for life. Budmo!
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on March 9 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 13131 - 86 St. NW Edmonton. A private interment will follow at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Nick’s memory to St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association or a charity of your choice.

So sorry for your loss, my condolences to the family,
Nick was a charming man, he always had time to chat when ever I ran into him. He will be truly missed.
To my cousins and their families. I am so sorry to hear my very Favorite Uncle Nick has left us to join his other family and friends in Heaven. Uncle Nick had the most positive influence on me as a child! He came to Edmonton and lived with our family. In my younger years we experienced many happy memories as Uncle Nick became our ‘older brother’ to my sister Donna and I! Uncle Nick taught us to dance the polka, waltz and even jive! We danced the polka until we were out of breath! Not Uncle Nick….he could have gone on and on!
Such sweet memories not to be forgotten.
Safe journey Uncle Nick ❤️
