Napoleon Paul Francis Lord
June 20, 1947 - January 17, 2024
In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Napoleon Paul Francis Lord on January 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born on June 20, 1947, to Catherine Beetham and Napoleon Lord at St. Joseph Hospital, Toronto. Napoleon is a generational name, given to the first-born Lord male. Paul was the seventh Napoleon, his legacy has continued with his son, Joshua, and grandson, Vaughn.
Paul started his studious career with a degree in Geography from the University of Guelph in 1974. After graduating with his degree, he worked as a Psych Aid at Homewood in Guelph. There he fell in love with patient care and his future wife, Diane Clark. Paul graduated with a nursing diploma in 1979 from Humber College, Toronto. After receiving his nursing diploma, Paul worked as an ICU nurse in Toronto for two years.
Paul and Diane were married on September 26, 1981. Seeking an adventure together, the two of them journeyed to the Great White North in 1982. With the intent of only staying a year, it was seven years later before they would leave. While in the north they worked for the Federal Government in a cottage hospital in Rae Edzo. Paul worked in various outpost nursing centers in Aklavik, Fort Norman, and Fort Resolution. After leaving the North, Paul continued to work with the Federal Government as a Nurse Practitioner in charge of John D’or Health Center in Northern Alberta. Paul retired in 2007 from the Federal Government after working 25 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Diane, his children Josh (Alix), Jocelyn, and Janesta (Evan), his grandchildren Vaughn and Avery, his brothers Murray (Elaine), Barry, and Wayne (Debbie) and sisters-in-law Anna (Ken) Ratcliffe and Ruth (Will) Wonch. Numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at St. Michael’s, Long-Term Care Facility (Green Pod) for their care and generosity during Paul’s stay.
A celebration of life will be held at Ritchie Market (second floor in the Barrel Room), 9570 76 Avenue NW Edmonton, AB T6C 0K2 on January 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm. The eulogy and toast will be given at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Society
