Manuel Carrasco Teixeira
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manuel Carrasco Teixeira, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Manuel was born on March 4, 1945, in Vila Nova de São Bento, Portugal and peacefully passed away on November 24, 2023 at the age of 78 surrounded by the love of his family.
Manuel, is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Isabel, who stood by his side with unwavering love and support throughout his journey. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. His legacy lives on through his children: Teresa (Andrew) Sergio (Nadene) and his grandchildren Christian, Eric, Karli and Marco who were a constant source of joy and pride.
Manuel was a devoted brother to Antonio who, along with his wife Ana and son Luis (Suzanne) and their children Tiago and Miguel, mourn the loss of a brother and uncle. Manuel will be missed and loving remembered by many friends and extended family.
Manuel will always be remembered for being the life of the party and making sure everyone was having a good time. His happiest moments were when he was spending time with family and friends. The door was always open at the Teixeira house where you were guaranteed to have great food, excellent wine, and lots of laughs. He was passionate about soccer, and would never miss a Benfica or a Portuguese National team game. Manuel loved swimming and you could find him every morning at the pool, cycling was another passion of his, he knew all of the trails in the river valley. Manuel’s motto in life was to never waste an opportunity, you work hard and you play hard.
A Prayer Vigil will be held on Tuesday, November 28 at 7 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 12311-55 street, Edmonton with a Funeral Mass Wednesday, November 29 at 10 am at Our Lady of Fatima Parish with Entombent to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the palliative homecare team as well as all of the staff at The Pilgrims Hospice Society who all took such amazing care of Manuel.

Manuel, will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were touched by his presence.

We were so thankful that we got to spend time with Manuel and Isabel when they were here in Portugal. We had such a wonderful time and will always remember his jokes and the laughter.
