Leonilde Pereira

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Leonilde Moniz Pereira on June 1, 2024 at the age of 85.

Leonilde was an individual of great strength and compassion who was always ready and willing to help others in need. She was an excellent seamstress and spent many years working in GWG Manufacturing, where she made lifelong friendships. She will be missed by all for her sense of humour, independent spirit, and unwavering love and support for her family and friends.

Leonilde will be lovingly remembered by her sons Jose (Elizabeth), Joao, Jaime and daughter Maria; three grandchildren: James, Cindy and Joao; her brother Humberto (Maria da Luz) Moniz, her sister Isobel Maria (Jose) Furtado as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Joao Ferreira Pereira, her parents Jaime Duarte and Silvania De Jesus Moniz, her sister Lurdes Rezendes and brothers-in-law Antonio Rezendes and Jose Furtado.

We gratefully extend our thanks and appreciation to the EMS paramedics, as well as to the doctors, nurses, and other staff of the University of Alberta Hospital, who treated our beloved mother with compassion, kindness, and respect.
