It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ken Fisher, loving father, partner, son and friend on Saturday, February 15, 2025.

Born in Winnipeg Manitoba, Ken was a Prairie Boy for most of his life. Although he lived in many cities in Western Canada throughout his childhood, youth and early adult life, Edmonton was his home.

Ken graduated from High School in Calgary and then attended Lethbridge College, where he graduated from its Journalism Program.   He went on to work for newspapers in Lacombe, Lloydminster, Williams Lake and Prince George before switching his career path.  He enrolled in a marketing course at a college in Edmonton in his late 30’s, and spent the remainder of his work life in Sales and Marketing, where he was able to utilize his creativity and writing skills.

As a child, Ken had many interests and hobbies.  At age 5, he joined the Scouting movement as a Beaver, continuing through Cubs and Scouts.  He also swam, skated, skied and participated in various school sports.  In high school, his “performer” side developed, and he enjoyed being part of the Drama Club.  Family holidays included camping trips, visits to his American cousins in Hawaii and then Atlanta, and summers spent with his Grandparents in Lloydminster and Marsden Saskatchewan.

As an adult, Ken remained an avid sports fan and enjoyed participating in hockey and football pools with his buddies.  He became a devout Edmonton Oilers fan and would dress up in all his Oilers gear to watch games on TV.  Family and friends often joked that if the team was behind, he better put on his lucky Oilers Socks!  Ken loved Karaoke and was known to his friends as the “Soul Man”, named after his favorite song to sing.   He had a keen sense of humor, and was famous for his puns.  Early in his Sales and Marketing career, Ken joined the Toastmasters organization to improve his communications skills.  He ultimately served many years as President of the Bowmen Chapter in Sherwood Park

Ken was married in 1998.  His precious daughter Sydney was born in 2003.  She has always been a big part of his life.  Ken and Sydney had a very close bond and she was the apple of his eye.  Divorced from his first wife, Ken found the love of his life, Tammy Sidor, in 2012.  Tammy created a warm, loving, fun and happy home for Ken and Sydney. In addition to their home in Edmonton, they also enjoyed many weekends at their lake lot at Garner Lake.

Ken fought a courageous battle against Cancer.  His family was constantly by his side, cheering him on.  He lost his battle with Melanoma and peacefully passed away on February 15, 2025 at the Edmonton General Hospice. He was 55 years old.

Ken is survived by his beloved partner, Tammy Sidor, his daughter Sydney, parents Gene and Jean Fisher, fur babies Jorja and Murphy and his extended family – Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, the Sidor Family as well as many very dear and close friends.

A Celebration of Life will take place in the Spring of 2025.

  6. I had the privilege of meeting Ken at the YEG airport while waiting to board our plane to Cabo! I got to spend a little bit of time at the pools in Cabo on our vacation. I know I didn’t know Ken for long but the short time I got to know him he was always so happy and an absolute joy to be around, such a genuine person. It saddens my heart know that his life was cut so short, but I also know he will become an amazing Angel 😇 where he will watch over his loved ones! My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. 🩵❤️🩵🙏🏻

  7. Tammy,Sidney and family. Our most heartfelt condolences to you. So unfair but he’s not suffering anymore. Love Jim and Shawna

  9. I had the privilege of working alongside Ken during our time together at TransACT, and it was truly a joyful experience. He had a way of making every moment fun and uplifting, always lightening the mood with his clever comments. One of the highlights of our interactions was our playful “fur-ball” debates—Ken, a devoted dog lover, and me, a proud cat enthusiast. His quick wit and the hilarious things he’d write about cats always brought a smile to my face. He had an incredible ability to bring creativity and humor into everything he did.

Tammy, I’m deeply sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how difficult this time must be without Ken by your side. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this challenging time.

    With love – Penny
