John Lindsay Nicholas
John passed away suddenly at age 67 on June 18, 2024. He is predeceased by his parents, Paul Henry Nicholas (1974) and Ethel Edith Nicholas (nee Achtima Skoreyko) (2013) and baby sister Elizabeth Nicholas (1947). John is survived by his sister, Irene Wendy Nicholas, and by his brother, Peter Brian Nicholas.
John was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, and resided at the family home address his entire life. John was a dedicated Transit Operator with the Edmonton Transit System for just under 43 years and received many Safe Driving Awards. Many vacations were enjoyed in Jasper National Park. John loved and was loved by many friends and relatives, but never married. He always looked forward to the Stuff-A-Bus Campaign and bus tours of Candy Cane Lane.
John was born on Earth Day, and so had a green burial graveside service at the Northern Lights Cemetery in Edmonton on June 28, 2024. Many thanks to our Cousin Rev. Don Nicholas and his son, Rev. Dr. David Nicholas for officiating. Thanks to Cousin Laurence Wasileyko, Trinity Funeral Home staff, and the Groundskeepers for their assistance. Thanks also to his niece, Lynn Nicholas, and her sister Melissa Wright for assisting with several behind-the-scenes tasks.
John is sadly missed by friends John Lyons, Special friend Riostita Medina, Daryl Wasileyko, Tiffanie Yong, Chris Pinch, Della Joseph, ETS Mitchell Garage staff, and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 569 staff, to name but a few.
I send my sincere condolences. The Bible promises that your loved one will come to life again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more in John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4.
