John Francis Fisher

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of John Francis Fisher of St. Albert, Alberta on December 24, 2024, at the age of 80 years after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

John was born on October 21, 1944, to John and Mary Fisher in Sarnia, Ontario.

John is survived by his wife Leah Fisher (nee Bertram), daughter Gwyneth Fisher, brother David Fisher (Simone Fisher), sister-in-law Virginia Fisher and extended family, stepdaughter Mandy Fisher (Robert Zalitach) and their sons, Benjamin, Christopher and Graham.

John was predeceased by his brother Peter Fisher and his parents John and Mary Fisher.

John attended Eastern Michigan University achieving a Master of Arts degree. John dedicated his distinguished career to adult education and was passionate about lifelong learning. He received numerous awards for his work and accomplishments. John loved everything he did including woodworking, photography, slow pitch, running, dancing and most of all reading.

At John’s request there will be no funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date in Sarnia, Ontario.

Memorial donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada in honor of John’s love for nature and service as a Queen’s Scout.

The family extends our deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Eden House who took exceptional care of John.
