It is with great sadness that the family of John Eastman announces that he passed away on July 21, 2024.

John was born on June 24, 1933 in Glendon, Alberta to Mary and William Ewasiuk. John is survived by his son Brad, grandkids Nicole and Spencer, many loving nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends and acquaintances. John was predeceased by his wife Frieda, and siblings Merv, Wally, Byron and Annette.

John  lived in Edmonton his whole adult life. It was there he met his wife, Frieda, with whom he enjoyed 70 happy years of married life.

Like his wife Frieda, John loved the Oilers, and they spent hours cheering on their favourite team. They also loved watching golf as well (and golfing together). John and Frieda loved to travel – their favourite place to go was Hawaii where they went twenty-five times! More importantly, he loved God and his family. As a long-time member of Central Pentecostal Tabernacle, John was a member of the choir and the “Ambassadors.”

John began his working life as a mechanic for Northwest Industries, and later moved to sales, a profession to which he was very well suited. He won numerous well deserved awards while working working for 3M. He eventually struck out on his own and worked well past retirement age!

He will be sorely missed.

  1. We are sorry we won’t be at the funeral Brad. Your Dad was a special man. We have missed him at Sylvan. He loved being out here at his cottage and we lived visiting with him. Thoughts are with you all.

  2. Brad, Nicole and Spencer
Please accept my condolences on the passing of your Dad and grandpa. I always enjoyed John’s tenor in the Ambassadors.
I regret that I will be unable to attend the service, however, my thoughts will be with you.

  3. Dear Brad,
We have so many wonderful memories of your mom & dad and are so sorry that you’ve now lost both. May peace & comfort be with you and your family.
Chuck (aka Clarence) & Linda Milke

  4. Hi Brad,
Your Dad was truly a remarkable Christian man. He was a joy to chat with. He was always so full of life. I remember when he took me under his wing and went car shopping for my first car.
I found out about your Dad’s passing at Gerry’s memorial. I pray for God’s love to continue to embrace you and your family as you grieve.
