Joan was born and raised in Bentley, Alberta, where she helped out on the Reid dairy farm until starting her own family. Joan took on odd jobs house painting to help support her children and this developed into her passion. Joan acquired her Journeyman Certification and had a successful 30-year career Sandblasting and Coating in the oil patch surrounding Rainbow Lake, Alberta. Joan had a strong work ethic and her pride of accomplishment was evident in every project she tackled.
Despite the physical distance between Rainbow Lake and family in Central Alberta, Joan was successful at maintaining relationships with family and friends. During her Rainbow years, Joan travelled far and wide, enjoying experiences on four continents.
In 2016 Joan and John retired to their lakeside home at Sandy Beach, Alberta, where Joan enjoyed flower gardening, birding, having the freedom to pursue her interests and visiting family and friends.
The family would like to recognize the care and compassion of the Home Care Nurses from Onoway Community Care.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date; no flowers please.
