Jean (John) Joseph Charles Real Fauchon
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." Colossians 3:12
It is with overwhelming sadness that we mourn the passing of Jean Fauchon, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and beloved friend. On February 20, 2025, at the age of 89, Jean passed away peacefully holding the hands of his family.
Jean will be forever remembered by his daughters Suzanne Fauchon, Lynn (Stuart) Shydlowski, Nicole (Steve) Vanwieren, and Cynthia (Fred) Fonseca; his adored grandchildren Connor, Matthew, Ryan, Benjamin and Analise; his sister Marcelle, relatives Freda, Julian, Phyllis, JoAnn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by Adeline, his wife of nearly 62 years; parents Leo and Roberte; siblings Fernande (Stuart Dunn), Pauline (Roland St. Hilaire), Paul, Rene (Yvette), Maurice (Ruth), Dolor (Margot), Dennis (Therese), Dolores, Yolande (Marcel Forcier), Irene, Roger; and relatives Myron, Duncan, and Clare.
Jean was born and raised on a farm in the Francophone hamlet of Ferland, Saskatchewan. He was the youngest boy in a family of thirteen. He graduated Grade 12 from Thevenet College (Gravelbourg High School) and went on to complete training at Regina General Hospital in Medical Diagnostic Radiography and graduated in 1958. His career would lead him to St. Joseph's Hospital in Vegreville where he met his beloved wife Adeline. They wed on July 27, 1963 in Edmonton and would later return to set down roots to build a beautiful life and home. Family was everything. Jean was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was so very proud of his grandchildren, taking interest in everything they were doing. Every precious moment he spent with them was filled with love, laughter, and hugs. The friendships he made over the years is a testament to his kind and gentle heart. Each year, with the arrival of spring, Jean, alongside Adeline, passionately worked in their garden which brought them both great joy.
In his words, “A little kindness makes the whole world change. Appreciate God and this life we’ve been given and be kind to others.”
Our family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grey Nuns Hospital and St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion. A special message of gratitude to Dr. Helen Cai, Nurse Practitioner Bree Simpson, and Dr. Chandrasenan for their support and compassion.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Jean and Adeline on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Providence Centre 3005 119 St NW, Edmonton. A private interment will take place following the mass at St. Anthony Cemetery.
