Ian M Macdonald
Ian M Macdonald, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away on December 5, 2023 at the age of 92. Ian is survived by his wife Ann and three children, Michele, Douglas (Judith), and Kathleen (Jason).
Ian, fondly known as Mac to his friends, was born to Angus and Marion Macdonald, on October 24 1931, in Edmonton, Alberta. He was a talented athlete who loved playing sports, especially football. He was hired by Alberta Government Telephones in 1955 and retired at age 55 in 1986. Still passionate about sports, he enjoyed following his favorite teams.
Ian enjoyed the outdoors, fishing was among his favorite activities. There are countless stories about the big ones that got away! He also loved being a grandfather, spending time with his grandchildren, Heather, Sarah, and Emily made him happy. He enjoyed pushing them on the swings in the playground or watching them play sports as they grew older.
There are no immediate services planned. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
My thoughts and prayers are with each of you! Remember all the happy memories, camping trips, judo, fishing.i know Ian is a 100 percent smiling that great smile . I will miss you greatly . I enjoyed are time together, thanks for teaching me to play Shulla. I will remember all the great stories you told me.
Sincere thanks for such a lovely message Kim. Ian and l much appreciated you, Jackie, Michael and the many others who helped us both, put quality and laughter into Ian’s last year, so much so when asked how are you doing he always replied 100%.
Ian will be missed by wife Anneliese, daughters, Kathleen (Jason) Michele, son Douglas (Judith).
