Gary Wayne Jackson
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Jackson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on December 19, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on June 27, 1948, to George and June Jackson, Gary lived life with energy, enthusiasm, and an outgoing spirit. He was an active man who loved sports, long walks in the River Valley and biking through the parks.
Gary worked for Canada Post for many years, starting as a letter carrier and working his way up to Supervisor and Superintendent. He was well-respected by colleagues and made countless lifelong friends. Gary also served as President of APOC, a role that took him across Canada and allowed him to experience many places and people, often with his cherished wife by his side. He was proud of his career and the bonds he formed.
Gary is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan; his children, Shawn-lee (Shaun), Sherri (Travis), Lisa, and Jason (Crystal), as well as his beloved grandchildren Katelynn (Jeff), Bradley (Kim), Briana (Jordan), Avery (Elise), Robin, Eric, Tabitha (Ashton), Ryan, Delilah (Jarom), and Savannah. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Jaden, Allison, Maximus, Aubrey, and Madelynn. Gary is mourned by his siblings Les (Karin), Gordie, Rocky, Guy (Sharon), sister-in-law Dell (Ian), and brothers-in-law Jack (Barb), Allan, and Ralph (Flo).
Gary had a passion for life, and loved to travel. His favorite places included Mazatlán and a memorable trip to South Africa. A skilled cook and baker, Gary could always be found in the kitchen. When at home, there was nothing he enjoyed more than sitting in the sun with a good book and a cold beer.
Gary’s kindness, exuberance, and love for life touched everyone he met. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 15, 2025, at the Bellevue Community Hall (7308-112 Ave) at 11:00 AM.
All are welcome to join. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Norwood in Edmonton.

Gary was a real gem! His care and concern for his letter carriers at Station L was a hard act to follow. I will always remember him with a spot in my heart-he was my supervisor when the day came that my dad was passing away. He dealt with me with such care, I still feel it-35 years later. His family and close friends will surely Miss his presence, his good sense of humor and his kindness. May he rest in peace and may those left behind look forward to the day you are reunited. Grace & Peace,
Alice Northcott
Sorry for your loss Joanie. I just found out. I remembered Gary had supervised at 11 and you worked there. I was day routing early shifts. You both are great people. RIP Boss. Look after yourself Joanie. Take care xo
Hi Joan and girls. As you all know I worked with Gary for many years. Went on some fun outings like a camping trip that was crazy. He was a good boss, everyone respected him and he always looked out for the workers. I wish I could have been there today to remember his life with you all but I’m in Kelowna. I hope that you are all doing well. He would want you all to be happy. He loved the Redmond and Skilton boys. From down east. My last conversation was I ran into Gary at Lowes and he said Barry take care of your pension. Life got busy and never had a chance to hook up. Rest in peace our dear friend.
