Evelyn Jean Argall
Evelyn Jean Argall (Sally) 88 of Edmonton, AB passed 7 December 2023 in Edmonton.
Sally was born at home on the 24 Dec 1934 in Poplar Point, MB. Her parents were Charles Henry Nutt of England 1864 – 1943 and Clara Bertina Overby of North Dakota 1908 – 1996. Sally had one brother Eldon and 4 sisters Decima, Caroline, Esther and Deanna. She and her siblings, attended a one room school house, it was a mile and a half for Sally to walk. Sally and Esther watched over baby Deanna when not at school, they loved old “Nell” the horse and play meant Nell was a nursemaid to them. The three little girls would ride Nell bareback to get water and perform other chores. In late summer, Sally and Esther would do all the stooping of the hay (tenting). Due to a bad fall early in life which caused a compressed fracture, Sally was in constant pain for the remainder of her life.
Sally married Airforce LAC Douglas Hugh Argall 1956 at Military Church at CFB Rivers in MB. She was a military wife for 20 years and moved 21 times in those years with three children; Connie, Elizabeth and Christopher. Thanks to numerous military postings to include France and Belgium, Sally and Doug would experience things many people never had the chance to enjoy.
An avid gardener in 1948 Sally won 1st place for her “Garden” in the Flower & Garden Show followed by In 1949 Sally “Public Speakers award for Poplar Point. In those early years she had also won a spelling Bee; which she was quite proud of. After grade 8, Sally was employed at “Good Ideas” a sewing shop in Winnipeg, MB where she learned the lost art to sew. This life experience aided Sally to crochet & knit; doilies, sweater, socks etc. but she loved doing slippers, she did slippers for everyone.
Sallys favorite movie stars were Tyrone Power & Shirley Temple and she loved the movie ”Gone with the Wind”.
Sally is survived by Connie (Brent) Stubbard Edmonton, Liz (Mike) Andrews Dartmouth NS, Chris Tacoma Washington. Grandchildren Gary, Travis, Kendall, Jeremy, Mary, Kaylyn and Blake. Gr grandchildren Kya, Teagan, Josh, Jaleya, Aerith, Ethan, Matteo, Anthony and Silver. Plus one sister Deanna (Len). Many nephews and nieces.
Predeceased by husband Doug 1994, son D Troy 2019, Brother Al 1983, sisters Dessie 1996, Carol 2014, Esther 1982.
Graveside services will take place in Spring.
