Eunice Yurchuk
We are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Eunice Yurchuk. Born on August 28, 1926, in Vegreville, Alberta, and raised in Szypenitz, Alberta, Eunice embraced a strong sense of community and family from an early age.
Seeking new beginnings, Eunice moved to Edmonton, Alberta, where she married her late husband, John Yurchuk, and devoted herself to raising her children. She was also fondly remembered alongside her past partner, Steve Kanak. Eunice’s nurturing spirit, and unwavering kindness, were guiding lights that touched everyone around her.
Predeceased by her parents, Hrehori Kereliuk and Maria Chrapko, as well as her siblings Bill, Steve, Mike, George, Kay, Elsie, Rose, and Pearl, Eunice leaves behind a proud and loving family legacy:
- Don Yurchuk (Rowena), with grandchildren Heather (Derek) and Laurel (Chad), and great-grandchildren Kaelyn, Ty, Bowie and Nicholas
- Michael Yurchuk (deceased), with grandchildren Dana and Jody (Craig), and great-grandchildren Alison, Benjaman, Kayden, Owen, and Griffin
- Kenn Yurchuk (Greta), with grandchildren Dallas (Andrew) and Devon (deceased), and great-grandchildren Shayla and Jett
- Mary Louise Yurchuk (deceased)
- Susan Morrissey (Terry Myles), with grandchildren Alyshea, Conor, and Erin
Eunice was a woman of warmth, wisdom, and grace. She was known for her kind heart, her quick wit, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her legacy is a testament to a life well-lived, full of laughter, compassion, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of family and friendship.
As we bid farewell to Eunice, we find comfort in the words that reflect her enduring spirit:
"And so for me there is no death,
It is but crossing, with abated breath;
A little strip of sea,
To find one's loved ones waiting on the shore."
Rest in peace, dear Eunice. You have crossed that little strip of sea, and we know your loved ones are waiting to greet you on the shore.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Eunice’s remarkable life this summer (date to be determined). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Eunice Yurchuk to either the Salvation Army of Canada https://salvationarmy.ca/donations or Capital Care Foundation – Capital Care Lynnwood.
Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone who knew Baba. We will remember her quick wit and bright smile. She was always sure to make you laugh. Rest in peace.
