It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Emmanouel (Nick) Arnidis who peacefully left us, surrounded by family, on October 16, 2024 at the age of 74. Born in Vasileoniko, Chios, Greece on December 7, 1949, lost his short but courageous battle with cancer.

He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife, Afrodete Venus, of nearly 45 years; he cherished being a father to his children: Kostas (Sue), Irene (Paul), Chrisa (Brad), as well as being a proud grandfather (“pappou”) to: Nicholas, Zoe, and Andreas. He is survived by his four siblings in Greece: Despina, Georgios, Sophia, and Kaliopi, many nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and other relatives in Edmonton and Greece. Predeceased by his parents Konstantinos and Eirini.

Emmanouel was a simple yet intelligent man who lived for his family, love of Greece, camping, fishing, his garden, and his cat. He was very social and particularly loved to talk about his favourite topic and place, Greece. His wit, charm, and generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He did countless hours of volunteering to help establish and maintain the Greek Hellenic-Canadian Community and School of Edmonton in order to preserve the Greek language and culture that he was so passionate about when he had immigrated to Canada from Greece in 1971.

The family is eternally grateful to the doctors and nurses at Grey Nuns Hospital, Unit 43, for their care of Emmanouel (Nick).
