With heavy hearts we said goodbye to our mother, Dorothea Irismerle
(Iris) Tedford Mitchell (Hawkins) on January 23, 2019 at the age of 82 after
battling Alzheimer’s & Vascular Dementia for several years.
Mother was born on November 28, 1936 in Edmonton Alberta where she resided all her life. She was predeceased by her parents Ted and Dorothy (Dolly) Hawkins and her husband Edward (Ed) Mitchell. She is survived by her brother Michael (Betty) Hawkins, her children Char (Don) Boyce, Lornel Mitchell, Dean (Sharleen) Mitchell, her 7 grandchildren (3 Step-Grandkids) and 8 great grandkids. She also leaves behind her beloved and remaining members of ‘The Gang’, Joy May (predeceased by Bob), Ray & Pat Lutz, Herb Lutz (predeceased by Aryle), Chris & Graham Place, & predeceased by Bob & Aileen Mills. Thank you to Unit 8East at the Misericordia Hospital for the loving care & compassion you gave our Mom and family.

Mama – I am so thankful for the gift of peace in my heart you gave me a couple weeks before you got so ill. I will always remember the color of your eyes, the scent of you, as my child’s memory still recalls and the taste of your yorkshire pudding you made with love and a lot of grumbling and smoke in the kitchen, it was magically delicious. There are 56 years of memories for me and not all of them are pleasant, but I know you loved me and you know I loved you too. I held your hand, made sure you knew I was there and comforted you through your last hours and for that I will be forever grateful. Rest in Peace Mama….Lornel xo
