It is with heartfelt sadness that our family announce the peaceful passing of Dirk Machtans, surrounded by his family on September 4, 2016.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Susan of 47 years, daughters Holly (Joe), Jennifer (Mike) and Patricia, grandchildren; Leonardo, Sofia, Francesca, Nolan and Hannah, and numerous relatives and dear friends.
Dirk was predeceased by his parents Charles and Ursula and brother Rainer.

I got to know Dirk over a few weeks while I was his roommate twice on 5D2 it was a please meeting him and his family. We are sorry to hear the passing of Dirk our condolences to you and your family

A good friend and a vibrant man. Dirk’s zest for living was amazing. He always had a way of finding the sunshine in our lives. He brightened my life and we always had something to talk about. My thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful family and I am sorry for your loss. Love to you all.
