Deborah Walks Far
We are sad to announce the death of Deborah Walks Far, 69, of Peerless Lake, AB. Born in Saskatoon, SK, Deborah was one of 5 children of Don and June Holler. Growing up as a farm kid, spending time outside and roaming the Prairies on her beloved horse became a life-long passion. She was an accomplished horse woman and competitive trail rider, raising and selling Arabian Horses with her (ex) husband, Barry. Together they have two daughters, Heather & Laura.
Deborah was an amazing teacher, working at both the middle school and elementary levels. She chose to pursue positions at schools in First Nations communities following her interest in the people and culture, and found so much joy in teaching her grade 1 students how to read. Deborah was a devoted and involved grandmother to her twin granddaughters, Megan & Tori. Deborah was an independent and courageous woman with a love of animals, nature, art, and music. Her ability to be her true, authentic self and never give up in the face of challenges was admirable, and her spirit unforgettable. She will be forever loved, honoured, and greatly missed by her entire family.
What a loving tribute to our loved One. Deb is missed and forever loved.

Deborah and I hadn’t been in contact for many years but I will always remember our families visiting together when we were young. May you always cherish your memories.
My deepest sympathies. Deb was a fantastic teacher and a wonderful mentor. I learned so much from her and was able to see what an impact she had on her students. I will miss her and think of her often.
