It is with mixed feelings of sorrow and peace that the dedicated and most loving husband, Elmer Waniandy, and forever grateful momma’s boy, Shawn, announce the passing of Darlene Williamson.

For those that knew her she was dedicated to her family and friends through all your own sadnesses but mostly loved to laugh with everyone.

After years of going through challenging health issues and being a survivor of the Indian Residential School system her resilience and ability to live and talk about it has freed her over the last few years of her life here on earth.

The three of us were together at the end of her physical life. The memories she is leaving with us are tonnes of smiles and no doubt there will still be tears from time to time.

For all those reading take solace in knowing that both Elmer and I know she touched many other lives.

A private family viewing and cremation will be taking place. Her remains will be returned to her home in Shoal Lake Ontario at a future date.

No flowers are needed but if you would like to make a donation to any social charity that supports people in need it would be appreciated.

Thank you for sharing our darling wife and mother with us.

  1. May your mommy rest in peace. I have been thinking of the many times I’ve spent with you and her. And I smile with each memory. Love you.

  2. So sorry for your loss, Darlene was a wonderful person, we were lucky to have known her, RIP Darlene

  3. I recently learned of the passing of my dear friend Darlene. I met Darlene in the 70s when we both worked for the Dept. of Indian Affairs. We connected immediately. We partied together, we laughed together, we cried together and we grew older together. She loved my grandsons Rylee and Bailey and was more than generous with them in the occasions she came to visit. My heart sinks with sadness that I didn’t get to say good-bye. She was a wonderful, caring friend whom I loved.
