Clarence Frank
Clarence Frank Clarence Frank was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on October 12, 2024, in Edmonton at the age of 87.
Clarence was born on June 7, 1937, in Brandon, Manitoba and was the fourth child of Susanna and Gustav Frank. He was baptized into faith at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brandon, Manitoba and reaffirmed his faith in confirmation in 1942.
Clarence started working at Eastern Smallwares. Shortly after, he started working for Siemens Electric. This position took him to Wynyard, SK where he met Sylvia. Clarence married Sylvia (Johnson) on August 24, 1958. They were blessed with two daughters, Kim McGill and Candace (Albert) Rivet. Clarence took great joy in his two grandchildren Landice (Steve) Babee and Brandon (Sierra) Rivet. He was blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Nashville, Decia, Bodhi, Ottis and Emerson.
Clarence and Sylvia traveled Canada for the first 6 years of their marriage having 17 different addresses from Salmon Arm, BC to Halifax, Nova Scotia. They decided that travelling wasn’t going to work once Kim started school, so Clarence took a job at AGT, and they made Edmonton their home.
In 1976 Clarence and Sylvia decided to move to a farm near Waskatenau, with Pauline and Glen Hemminger, where they lived for 35 years.
Clarence retired from Telus (AGT) on January 31, 1992. He then started his own handyman business. He did many repairs and cut miles and miles of grass over the years. He took great pride in his own yard and spent countless hours trimming trees, cutting grass and cleaning flower beds.
Clarence loved to keep busy, he spent many vacations at family members’ homes, fixing leaking faucets, cleaning out eave’s troughs, painting and doing many tasks to make things easier for them. Other vacations were spent camping with many families and friends.
Clarence and Sylvia square danced for many years and danced in Honolulu, Hawaii, Mesa, Arizona and on a Pacific Western airplane flying to Yellowknife, NWT. He showed his love for his Lord and volunteered at his churches (Bethlehem Lutheran, Edmonton and Golgotha Lutheran, Ellscott), from, treasurer, changing light bulbs, building additions and even holding the Sunday Service. He also volunteered for Lamp (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots), and for his square dance club, as president and treasurer and even a caller many years ago. He also, enjoyed bowling and belonged to a league at Bonnie Doon Lanes.
Clarence is survived by his brother Wilfred and was predeceased by his wife Sylvia, parents, Gustav and Susanna Frank, brothers, Fred and Gerald, sisters Alwina and Phyllis and son-in-law Mike McGill.
Clarence was a kind and gentle man of great faith, a loving husband, father, Papa and Big Papa. He will be sadly missed by all.
We were sad to hear about Clarence Frank. He was a great square dancer, very sociable and always ready to help. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Thank you.
Candace and Kim very sorry for the loss of your father.
Thank you so much.
Dear Kim & Candace:
Your dad’s wonderfully written obituary tribute brought back such fond and warm memories of not only your dad, but your mom, grandparents, aunt, uncle, and growing up with you both. To this day, I still dream about fun visits, birthday parties (with coins inside the cake!), being allowed to safely cross through your yard to run over to my Aunt Vicky’s home down the block, smiles, laughter and just the comfort of knowing kind, safe, honest, supportive and helpful neighbours. Your parents were a true blessing. It was an honour to know them.
Hugs,
Lorri Jankowski-Arndt
