Albertine Finney
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Albertine Finney on January 10, 2022 in Edmonton, Alberta. She will be greatly missed and remembered lovingly by her daughters Joanne Finney and Danita Bilozaze; sister Melanie Matchatis; grandchildren Dani Bilozaze-Lewis, Maia, Nevan and Livia Elie; Ashleigh (Garth) Lewis and Shelby (Jeff) Harding and her sons-in-law Jason Elie and Cam Lewis. Albertine was predeceased by her husband Dan Finney; her daughter Anne Finney; her adoptive parents John and Josephine Blackman and mother Hazel. She will be remembered by many loved ones for her faith, her love of family, friends, travel, reading, dancing, country music, gathering with her nearest and dearest, and of course Coronation street.
Albertine was born and raised in Cold Lake Alberta, was a military wife, and worked for the D.N.D. for over 25 years and in between living in Greenwood NS, Comox BC Germany, Gibbons and Edmonton AB she happily travelled the world to be with her loved ones. Albertine will be remembered for her strength and perseverance as she lived her best life while also battling cancer until she could no longer and passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side. Her family would like to send a heartfelt thank you Dr. Johannes Botha and his staff for the great care they took of her over the years.
Her wishes were to be cremated and for immediate family to gather and bury her remains in an intimate ceremony. Due to Covid restrictions a funeral service will not be held, and virtual memorial to be announced. Additionally, in lieu of flowers requested donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
I just heard of your mom’s passing, I’m so very sorry for your loss.
I worked with your mom while posted in Comox, she went to my 1st wedding, and I was fortunate to cross paths many times with her over the years.
She will be missed. RIP my friend 😞.
