Beverly Benbow
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Beverly Benbow (nee Kuny) on Tuesday February 2, 2021, at the age of 68, in Edmonton.
She will be remembered by her two sons and their families: Shawn (Jennifer) Benbow and their sons James and Walter, and Corey (Kasia) Benbow – all of Edmonton. She is also survived by her two brothers and their families: Richard (Betty) Kuny of Creston, and Ron (Leona) Kuny of Saskatoon.
Beverly was predeceased by her father Frank Kuny (1998) and mother Ann (nee Hrechka) Kuny (2003).
Bev was born in August 1952 in Tisdale Saskatchewan, where she grew up on her family’s farm before moving to Saskatoon to attend culinary arts school where she became a Journeyman Chef. She moved to Alberta in the 1970s, and settled in the early 1980s in Edmonton where she met her former spouse Richard Benbow and had their two sons Shawn and Corey. When her sons were young, she ran a dayhome while obtaining her Early Learning and Child Care Certificate, then worked at a non-profit daycare as a cook. She later managed a few local cafeterias/short-order restaurants in Edmonton before retiring.
She will be remembered dearly by her family and friends for her caring nature, passion for the culinary arts, and love of animals.
Due to current health restrictions, the family plans to hold an outdoor celebration of life in Mid-April 2021. Details will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Memorial donations in memory of Bev can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
