Ethel Thorogood
As the sun rose on May 27, 2020, Ethel passed away at the glorious age of 95. She is reunited with her husband Dave (2018), children Rose (1952) and Neil (2015).
Celebrating her memory are son Ron (Joanne), daughter Judy (Len), Daughter-in- law Leona, foster son Herbie (Minnie); six grandchildren Christopher (Carley), Amanda (Dustin), Kendra, Evan (Haylea), Jared, Chantelle (Dillin); nine great grandchildren; her beloved sister-in-law Audrey Thompson; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Ethel loved a house filled with friends and family and lots of activity. Grandchildren fondly remember the after dinner games of cards and the long walks in nature. With a mind for numbers, Ethel loved playing Bridge. Sports were a passion, especially curling, golfing and bowling. As a couple, Dave and Ethel loved square dancing and formed many life long friendships. Favourite places were their lake cottage at Wabamun and winters spent in Arizona.
A family celebration to honour Ethel’s life will take place at a future date.

I occasionally think of Neil Thorogood from our JPHS days. Neil and his sister Judy were like a ray of sunshine. The biggest smiles, laughter, energy and good times were the norm if you were in their company. I think I was at their home only once and met their mother, could see from whom they got their spark. A lovely family <3
It was like 'Happy Days' around you and Neil: the jiving …clean fun …. It was a blessing to know you.

Thank you so much for the condolences! Saying a final good-bye is never easy, as you very well know. Memories certainly live on and this helps me to feel closer to those that have passed. I picture a happy reunion going on!!
So sorry for your losses over the years, but I didn’t know your dad and mom had passed until today actually. I guess there is no one left in my family to let me know. Your dad taught me a lot of things when you had the farm and I loved him very much. Neil was a good guy too – especially when he sicked the bees on me -he was smart and I was dumb back then, but he knew I would never forget the incident and he was right – I still remember it like it was yesterday. My sister Carol, my brother Murray, and I used to beg dad to take us to see all of you when you lived on the farm, and I thank you all for our adventures. Love to you all.

For some reason I checked the messages tonight on mom’s condolences. It is so nice of you to remember my parents and send this message. Yes, Neil had a wonderful spark that he added to all of our lives. There was always fun when Neil was around. Not surprised to hear about the bees! Dad was a gentle soul, much like your mom. They were two peas in a pod! Dad adored his sister, Win. Crazy how so many are gone now! Carol, just a few days after Neil.
