Randolf Peter McLay
July 1,1959 - May 14, 2019
The family of Randy McLay is heartbroken to announce his passing on May 14, 2019, in Edmonton.
He was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Dorothy and Gilbert "Gib" McLay, his brother Glenn, and his Grandparents Elizabeth and Eric Lavergne, Laura and Bert McLay, Peter and Minn Blackburn and many more family members. Randy is survived by his five sisters, Georgette (Steve), Denise (Bill) Lori, Laura, Brenda (Darryl), his brother Allan, and many relatives in our large family.
Randy was the kind of man who would not hesitate to help his family or his numerous lifelong buddies in Kenora. Randy made many new friends in Edmonton and for those of you who are contacting the family, and offering your help, we are truly thankful. After we lost our brother Glenn, Randy became fiercely protective of our family. Kenora was always "home" to Randy and he would travel great distances to be present for our Mothers' birthdays and other family celebrations. No one was ever bored, especially his nieces and nephews, when "Uncle Randy" was around. His laughter was contagious! He loved his sister's cooking and Steve's fish. He usually went back to Edmonton a few pounds heavier and with a loving care package made by his sister Georgette. Many of his best times were spent playing darts with his Dad Gib and his lifelong buddies in Kenora. You know who you are. Randy excelled at arm wrestling, fishing, fixing and selling cars and showing love for his family. Some of the most gratifying years of Randy's life were when he worked for the C.P.R, B.C. Rail and in the oil fields. He was a proud member of Niisaachwewan Anishinabe Nation and The Legion.
Our family had planned to celebrate his 60 birthday in July. Instead we will gather in July for his celebration of life in Kenora, a time, place and date yet to be determined.
"REST EASY NOW LITTLE BROTHER. YOU ARE LOVED AND WE WILL MISS YOU TERRIBLY. YOUR FAMILY"
I was a new friend to Randy. Mysef and my boyfriend Richard became friends with Randy through a mutual friend Joey. It was cars and motorbikes that got Rick and Randy talking, and me I came for the ride but also enjoyed cars as well. Randy most definitely had a contagious laugh. He was very kind and giving to me. He had a full life I could tell by his stories, which were interesting to us. Randy would of been a long term friend if we would of had that oppurtunity. But the short time we know each other I am grateful for as is Richard. Ride hard and long. Love Adele and Richard.
Love you buddy rest in peace you are going to be sadly missed rest easy now always loved
Georgette,Denise,Brenda,Laura, Lori & Allan …So sorry for your loss, you are all in our thoughts…Speak of him often with a smile…

To Randy’s Family
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Randy was a very dear friend of mine, he was always a breath of sunshine laughter was a given when he was present. May 26 of last year Randy showed me just how incredible of a friend he was he drove myself and my boyfriend to Enderby BC to my moms to pick up my truck. Randy Cody Earl myself plus my dog Mister all are bags in the Toyota sardines in a can but we had a blast. When we finally reached moms having dinner Randy discovered a new favourite dish pineapple salad, Every special occasion I made it for him. I can’t find the words to say what that meant to me no one had ever done something like that for me. Later in the summer he showed again what huge heart he had a friend had lost his motorcycle years before unable to replace it longed to ride again well Randy lent him his bike for 4 days. We all know Randy lived to ride his motorcycle. A incredible friend he was to myself and so many people. I pray that he knew he was so very special and how loved he was. Until we meet again my friend RIP. Love your friend Karen
