James Henry Pletcher

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Henry Pletcher on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the age of 93. James passed away peacefully and surrounded by love at his residence in Grandview Long Term Care in Edmonton, Alberta, leaving behind a legacy of love, intellect, and unyielding dedication to both his family and profession.

Born on August 4, 1931, in the quaint town of Galloway, James was the cherished son of the late Henry and Grace Purvis Pletcher. He spent a lifetime embodying the values instilled in him by his parents—integrity, perseverance, and kindness.

A dedicated chemical engineer by profession, James's career was marked by innovation and commitment to excellence. He had an impactful career that spanned several decades, during which he earned the respect and admiration of both colleagues and clients alike. His work not only contributed to the industry but also inspired those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

James was predeceased by his son , Allan, his bothers, Raymond and Tony and his beloved wife, Engelina Catherina Pletcher, whose partnership he cherished deeply. Together, they built a beautiful family and a life full of beautiful memories and shared dreams.
James is survived by his daughter Grace (Martin), his son Gary, his daughter Carolin( Mike), his grandsons Mark ( Alex), Keith, Jesse, Chris( Cassy) and Harrison and his granddaughters Patricia (Neil), Jacklin, and Heather ( Martin) , his Great Grandson , Timothy as well as many other family and friends.

Throughout his long life, James was a beacon of wisdom and a source of inspiration to those around him. He was known for his sharp intellect, gentle spirit, and an unwavering sense of humor that brought light to so many dark days. He will be dearly missed by friends and family who knew him as a man of quiet dignity and humility. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have conveyed their condolences and support during this time of mourning.

As we remember James, let us celebrate a life well-lived and the legacy he leaves behind. A life filled with achievements, beloved family, and enduring friendships. James Henry Pletcher will forever be in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing him.
