It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Ethel Marie Richards. Ethel passed away peacefully at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital on February 28, 2025 at age 82. Ethel was born in Halifax, NS January 14, 1943 to Olive Merlin.  She then moved to the Heartherton, NS area to live with her grandmother Eva Merlin. She was then adopted by Charlotte Richards.

Ethel had a few jobs, including working at Acadia Fisheries in Mulgrave, NS, School Monitor in St. Andrews, NS but mainly she was known as “The Neighbourhood Mum”.

Ethel was known for her infectious cackle, quick witted humour, big heart and kindness to all. She opened her home to all and treated everyone like family. Her grandkids were everything to her. Especially her unbreakable bond with Christine. Where there was one, the other was not far behind.

She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, loved her scratch tickets, cute kitty videos, funny videos and visits with family and friends. Ethel had an amazing zest for life and there was never a dull moment when she was around. She was the life of every party!

Ethel is predeceased by her birth mother Olive Stubbert, stepfather Bud Stubbert (Ontario), her adoptive parents Herman and Charlotte Richards, partner Kenneth Lloyd Sr., sisters Ethel (John) Voss and Alice (Bernie) Chisholm and brother Danny Richards, brother-in-law Sylvester Greencorn (Mary Ellen), son-in-law Dale Munroe and her first husband Elden Greencorn Sr.

Ethel leaves to mourn her memory her sister Louise (Keith) Weishuhn (Ontario), brother Roddie Stubbert (Ontario), brother Carl Richards (Joan) Heatherton NS, brother-in-law Spencer Greencorn (Dorothy) Heatherton NS, sister-in-law Barb Degruchy (Andrew) Havre Boucher NS, sister in Law Doris Richards Afton NS,son Lorne Greencorn, Lougheed, AB, daughter Cathy Munroe, Havre Boucher, NS, son Donnie Greencorn (Lana Cameron) NS, son Eldon Greencorn Jr, Fort McMurray AB. Her loving grandchildren Christine Paupst (Kyle), Abigail GooGoo, Riley Greencorn, Makayla Greencorn, Ethan, Alicia and Lily. As well as her loving great grandchildren Bryson and Aubree Paupst, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ethel will be dearly missed by many of the Havre Boucher Community and the surrounding area.
