Adrienne Genevive Elton (nee Swanson) was born on June 25, 1946 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her parents Mervin Swanson (1983) Mother Geneva Swanson (nee Wilson, 2014); brothers Maurice Swanson (2011) and Carl Swanson (2019).

Mom was raised on the family farm near Keeler, Saskatchewan; later moving to Edmonton Alberta in November 1969 where she resided with her husband of 60 years, Don Elton.

Mom was a devoted wife, loving mother, amazing grandmother, great-grandmother, a loyal friend, and a genuine person with a kind heart. Mom  enjoyed her small backyard garden, that always had the most beautiful tomatoes. She also loved to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports, often listening to their play by play the kids would share. Mom would often have soccer, hockey, and baseball highlights at any given time of the year. During the winter months Mom could be found in a BINGO hall with the girls, or cozied up downstairs in her Lady Cave reading, doing a jigsaw puzzle, or watching curling and hockey on TV

Mom loved the summer months as they always meant loading up the holiday trailer and fishing boat so she and Dad could travel to Goodsoil, SK to visit with family and friends old and new.  Every day was spent on the lake, and even though she always would out fish Dad, he would never complain, no matter how many fish he had to filet. Eventually they would make their way back to Baptiste Lake to stay for the last leg of the summer, enjoying time with the Athabsaca family and friends, and of course more fishing, campfires, and memories to be made.

Adrienne’s beautiful smile, zest for life, patience, and love will be deeply missed by her husband of 60 years, Don Elton; children Denise (Reg), Darin, Teressa (Sonny); her 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; numerous extended family members and friends.

“We hold you close within our hearts, and there you shall remain, to walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again. So, rest in peace our beloved Mother, and thanks for all you’ve done. We pray that God has given you, the crown you’ve truly won”.

Special thanks to the staff at Foyer Lacombe Hospice in St. Albert for the care and compassion that you gave our Mom Adrienne during her final days.

In honour of Adrienne’s wishes, no formal service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Adrienne’s name to Canadian Cross Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation
