Marcelle Patricia Labrecque
Marcelle Patricia Labrecque of Cochrane, Alberta passed away on December 2, 2024, at Dulcina Hospice in Calgary, Alberta.
Marcelle was born in St. Boniface (Winnipeg), Manitoba to Luzina and Augustin Labossiere on April 18, 1938. Throughout her life, she lived in many small communities and cities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. She spent many of her years on farms south of Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan where she raised her twelve children. She generously shared her gardening, sewing, knitting, baking, canning, and cooking talents with her large family. She ran farm equipment, cared for animals and was a budding entrepreneur. She also became involved in selling real estate for a time. She enjoyed scrabble, bingo, arts and crafts, crosswords and dancing as well as travel. Even after she could no longer travel, she continued to enjoy armchair travel with her maps. She was always up on the latest news as well as the weather. She loved the great outdoors – especially the large prairie skies – and would sit outside for hours at a time. During lightning storms, she could often be found out on the deck taking it all in. She was a great teacher, always ready with practical advice. She was a woman of deep faith, who readily responded to our calls for prayer for personal needs and help finding lost articles. She modelled endurance, forgiveness, friendship, fun, generosity, loyalty, patience, perseverance, prayer, respect, support, trust and understanding. She was accepting, considerate and courageous. She challenged us to be channels of peace and to be generous with love. Always, she was an ambassador for Christ.
Marcelle is survived by her children, Suzanne, Michelle (Casey), Greg, Frank, Robert (Heather), JC (Irene), Monique, Marc (Patricia), Courtney, JJ, Patricia (Brian) and JP (Maureen) as well as numerous grand-children, great grand-children and two great, great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her siblings, Gabrielle Labossiere, Donat Labossiere, Michel Labossiere, Leda Mathieson and Elaine Murray as well as her daughter-in-law, Denise Labrecque (nee Deveaux).
