With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our dearly loved son and brother, Kristofer (Kip) John Levi Workun, who passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 28 years.

Those who knew Kip, knew of his gentle heart and old soul. He loved the simple things in life, flat tires, sharks, playing cards, jazz music, fishing and most of all, family. He was also known for having epic lightsaber battles. He was creative, compassionate and his smile was infectious.

Kip earned his 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo giving him the opportunity to travel across Canada, compete at the PanAm Championships in Puerto Rico and the World Championships in Belarus. He was an accomplished jazz drummer and you could catch a glimpse into the depths of his soul when he played the piano.

Kip will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Suanne and Roman, his sister, Katerina (Kent) Winnick and his grandparents Cathy and Miles Palmer. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles who adored him dearly. Among them are Olia (Keith) Briggs, Daryl (Tom) Ciezki, Miles (Karyn) Palmer and his special aunt Judy Moench. He had many cousins who shared in his joyful spirit, Anthony (Claire) Briggs, Christina Briggs, Amanda and Nathan Ciezki, Sydney Palmer as well as Virginia, Rosalie, and Pierce Briggs.

Kip is predeceased by his precious Baba (Stefania) and Dziadzio (John) Workun.

A divine liturgy will be held on Monday, November 25th, at 10 a.m. at Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church, 15608-104 Avenue, Edmonton, with Father Peter Babej officiating. Interment will take place following the liturgy where Kip’s ashes will be placed with his Baba in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the members of his Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, along with all the doctors, nurses, and mental health/addiction professionals who worked with Kip over the years. We also deeply appreciate everyone who showed Kip kindness and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Mission www.hopemission.com/donate or a social agency of one’s choice. Kip would appreciate you remembering him by being kind to those struggling on the streets.
