Jose Antero Matias
On October 17, 2024, Jose Antero Matias of Sturgeon County passed away peacefully at the age of 64 years.
He will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 40 years, Grace; his two children, Andrea (James) and Alex; his granddaughter Gia; his brother Victor (Zita); five sisters: Alzira (Manuel), Isolina (Armindo), Natercia (Orlando), Odete, and Linda (Paul); his brother-in-law Joe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Maria Paulo; his two sisters Maria and Marilia; and his brother-in-law Paulo.
All who knew Antero would speak of his kind heart, patience, hard work ethic, and sincere nature. He was a humble man who appreciated the simple things in life and was deeply loved by his family and friends, near and far.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to all of the staff at the University of Alberta Hospital (ER, Neuro ICU, and Unit 4G4) for their empathy, kindness, and exceptional care and compassion.
Enjoy life today because yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is never promised.
