Surrounded by family, Wayne Errol Weeks passed away on July 29, 2024 at the age of 87. He is survived by his partner Sharon; children (Anna) Gayla and Troy; grandchildren Randy, Justin, Ben and Brittany; great grandchildren Rylan and Evelyn; siblings Al, Caryl, Temple, Merill, Yrinda, Sandria, and Graham; his former wife Anna, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A Maritimer from Charlottetown PEI, Wayne had a strong work ethic and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he was distinguished as a marksman. After his service, Wayne moved to Alberta where he met his wife Anna and started a family. He began his entrepreneurial path, first with Rack Sales and later, Philcom Plastics where he presided a successful business enterprise for over 50 years. Wayne was actively engaged with politics throughout his life and ran for city council in the mid 1980s.

A fierce competitor both physically and mentally he relished games of chess, crokinole, and tennis. He loved to sing and could often be found singing to people he had only just met. Trips to the Rockies were spent with family where jokes were shared, and games of crazy eights were a staple of activities. Wayne was also a proud member of the masons for many years at the downtown Edmonton branch. Well known for his kindness, generosity, he often helped family and strangers alike. A man of integrity, eternal optimism and boundless energy, always ready to try something new. Never one to sit around, he was always engaged with his long list of things he wanted to pursue and gifted his family with a strong drive to succeed among life challenges. He often said “Nothing changes without change” and believed that you needed to keep learning and keep moving if you wanted better in life.

Wayne is remembered for his quick wit, lively storytelling, and more than occasional sweet tooth. Moreso, he was a gentle, charming and kind soul, loved by so many. He is greatly missed.

A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 1PM. Details to follow.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. He was an amazing neighbour for all the years I knew him. So many memories of him as I grew up over the years. After my dad passed away he was always willing to help my mom out without a second thought. He always had a story to tell, and it meant a lot that he went and visited my mom in her care home.
Thoughts and prayers to you Sharon and the rest of the family. Rest in Peace Wayne

    • Thank you so much Stacey. Love and appreciate those thoughts and memories!
      Troy

  2. Dear Sharon, for weeks we have come down the alley hoping to see you. We have missed seeing the two of you in the yard, back or front, this spring. Today we learned of Wayne’s passing! Our hearts go out to you and we will remember you and the family in our prayers.
Wayne was a good back lane neighbor. Always friendly and full of advice. May you be comforted! Edwin and Elisabeth Germann
