James (Jim) Eigner
With sadness, the family of Jim Eigner announces his passing on February 16, 2024 at the age of 75, after a courageous 4+ year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Jim is predeceased by his wife Irene, children Graeme and Katharine and parents Frank and Ethel Mae. He leaves behind his remaining children Michael (Crystal), Sherry (Daniel), Heather (Harold), Allison (Steve), Natalie (Shane), Vanessa, Bryan (Alia), Stephanie (Robbie); daughter-in-law Lorella; 16 grandchildren and brothers Russell and Jerry.
Jim could always be found lending a hand with anything camping, vehicle or home repair related. He had a wide range of knowledge and he was always happy to share.
Aside from being a devoted husband and father, Jim had a passion for rock music and valued the time he spent with Fred and Ron and the rest of the band who he formed a very close friendship with. He will be deeply missed.
Thank you to the Capital Care Norwood staff for the amazing care and support you gave Jim and us all.
A celebration of life for Jim and Irene will be planned at a later date.
I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your Father. I will be thinking of you during this difficult time.

My very deepest sympathy to the entire Eigner family. I will always consider myself lucky to have known Jim. He answered my ad for a drummer ‘Ok, the kids have grown and you have your life back so pickup your sticks and join some mature guys…’. He said he thought it was asking him personally. His sense of humour was just great. From his Neon car with Geezer in masking tape that one of the boys had put on the back of the car which he left on, to him coming to practice on his 64th birthday telling us he sang ‘When I’m 64 by the Beatles’ to his wife when he got up that morning. He loved his family very much and dearly loved Irene his wife. I know he did, he told me so. With the band we enjoyed his input on the Edmonton bands of the 60’s and his knowledge/history of our favorite bands. And not to forget, Jim was a great drummer. He really connected with all the band members on a personal level too. He helped Fred with some coaching on Fred’s interview with the Alberta Government and did some wiring for lights in the practice space. Apart from all that he was attempting to record a drum part for an online collaboration. He was practicing just 4 months or so ago! Fred and I also enjoyed our online video visits which we rarely missed. You will be truly missed Jim, so much!!
