Emmanuel Joseph Goueffic
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, and grandfather, Emmanuel (Sam) Joseph Goueffic, on February 4, 2024. He passed away peacefully one day after his 93rd birthday.
Sam leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Anne Goueffic, sons Leonard Goueffic (Yvonne), Douglas Goueffic, grandchildren Craig Goueffic and Paige Goueffic (Marc Hetu). Sam was predeceased by his parents, Emmanuel and Antoinette Goueffic and his sister Josephine Charlebois. He is also survived by his sisters Louise Goueffic and Toni Conan, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Sam was born in Leask, Saskatchewan, on February 3, 1931. He moved to Edmonton from the farming community of Marcelin, Saskatchewan, at a young age. There, he met, married, and started a family with Anne and worked at the Texaco refinery in Edmonton until his retirement in 1984. Sam always provided well for his family and enjoyed a quiet home life. He and Anne enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives in Canada and the US. Sam was also an avid handyman who would never turn down an opportunity to repair something regardless of what it was, and would routinely spend time in his yard and garage.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the medical team and staff at the University of Alberta Hospital units 5G3 and 5D2 for their exemplary care and compassion during Sam’s difficult final few days.
