Daisy Mae Milne
Daisy Mae passed away Monday afternoon, January 15, 2024 in her long term care home. She had been battling a cold during the week. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Patrick, daughters Lori and Kathleen, parents Lama and Henry, and sister Jean. Daisy will be lovingly remembered by her children Brenda (Mark), and Kathleen’s husband, Ron, Heather (Dale), Dennis (Ardell), Tracy (Steve), as well as her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
Daisy was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan December 1, 1939. Some time later, her family moved to Port Edward, BC where her dad ran the cannery there. She had many fond memories of her time there. Later the family moved south to Vancouver and she completed secretarial school in high school. Daisy met Patrick on a blind date in April of 1958 and by July of that year, they were engaged to be married. They tied the knot at Stevenson United Church October 4, 1958 and Daisy wrote, “they had many exciting and happy times.” Not long after, Brenda was born, followed by Lori who passed in 1961, Kathleen, Heather, Dennis and Tracy.
Daisy served the Lord with all of her might. She taught Sunday School, she worked in the nursery, she served on committees, she contributed to so many potlucks and she stepped up whenever help was needed in Patrick’s churches. So many children learned to call her Grandma Daisy because of her kindness and compassion.
During Daisy’s final years, she lived with dementia. Even dementia didn’t stop her being kind and compassionate to other residents in her home. One of her final acts was to sing along to Christmas carols at the facility Christmas party while holding the hand of another resident who was unable to sing.
Thank you for celebrating the life of Daisy with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed.
Daisy was such a lovely woman and a real delight. I am so very saddened to hear of her passing. Daisy was my Mother’s roommate at Extendicare. Daisy was always a ray of sunshine, always pleasant and smiling. Just the most compassionate and sweet woman despite her burden of dementia and previous stroke. My Deepest and Sincerest Condolences to All of Daisy’s family (and Brenda in particular); Wishing You All Comfort & Respite from Your Grief.
My heart and prayers go out to Heather, Dale, Daniel, Patrick, Caleb, Grace and your families. My prayers also go out to your siblings and their families in this time of sorrow.
