  1. Another very special lady passes on.
Chocha will be missed as will her wonderful sense of humour and great cooking.
I don’t ever remember coming into the house and her not working the kitchen like a machine.
Even in these difficult last years there was seldom a missing smile and a YA YA YA that would brighten anyone’s days as she looked at pictures and soaked in memories.
I am happy that she can now be with mom and the other sisters ( and Edward) without pain and giving us all the supervision we still need.

  2. My deepest condolences to Helen and her family. Always eager to roam the halls of Miller Crossing with a smile on her face the moment you said her name. She will be missed dearly. Sending my thoughts and prayers. Вічная Пам’ять.

  3. We’re so very sorry for your loss.
We will keep your family and Helen in our thoughts and prayers.

  15. I was so sad to hear of Helen’s passing. I have been searching for her for several years so that we could reminisce over the good old days. So to find her obituary saying Helen had passed away, was heart breaking for me. Helen was in my grade eleven class at Kelvington High School. I moved to Regina and when Helen graduated, she also, moved to Regina and became my roommate so we could share the cost of rent. The first place we lived was on the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street in a light housekeeping room in a family’s home. The accommodation consisted of one room which was your bedroom, kitchen, living room, all rolled into one. I guess today they would call it “open concept”! We had very little in the way of the luxuries that kids would have these days. Our kitchen which was part of this one room had a small fridge and a hot plate. In those days, home owners would rent out their upstairs bedrooms to make a little additional income. Finally, we decided to change our living style and opted for board and room at 2450 Harvey Street with a delightful couple and their daughter. It was great to have someone make our meals. When the couple decided to build a house, we found ourselves looking for accommodation again. This time we moved to a house on Angus street and had a furnished suite which included a kitchen, living room, bedroom and a shared bathroom. We even had our own rotary telephone! It was close to where I worked at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and a few blocks from Helen’s work place, which I believe was Co-op Insurance. Those were really happy times for two young girls who left a small town for what we considered at the time, a big city. You became independent and self reliant as our only communication from home were letters. Phone calls were too expensive, so those calls would be made only in emergencies. I married before Helen, and so life got in the way and we never crossed paths after that, as I moved to many different cities. Helen was a very happy, resourceful person. I will never forget her laugh, her love for music and dancing.
It was interesting to me to see that unknown by us, that we had both called our first daughter Michelle, although I spelled my daughter’s name Michele. I am sure Helen was a great mother and grandmother, as she was, as my friend. My sincere condolences to all her family and friends.
