Robert Franklin Beacon “Bob”

Robert Franklin Beacon, better known as “Bob,” (unless he was in trouble with my mother, then it was definitely “Robert!”) passed away on August 25, 2023, at 9:15 pm, just in time to make it to heaven for his anniversary. He very peacefully left this earth after saying goodbye to all his children, in the presence of his best brother Gordy and wife Judy, prayed over by his oldest daughter Harmony with Jarett by her side. God took him from a quiet corner in the Athabasca hospital. We will also kindly mention the many wonderful medical staff affording all the comforts they possibly could while being on standby for Bob. We are grateful for all you have done for our family.

Robert was not a hoarder like our mother and for that we are grateful so we don't have a ton of useless stuff to dispose of, endless truck loads of years of things to donate, the government to pay off or some rare art collection! What we are left with, however, are broken hearts.

We are left thinking about our sweet gentle father, who was trying to muster up the courage to tell the world it was time to say goodbye. Robert Beacon was a humble, kind, man whose precious collection of worldly treasures was that of the bible and his love for politics, his children, nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers, friends, and above all his beautiful grandchildren.

So how do we write an obituary for a Great man? We start by saying he will be missed. His legacy is and will always be us, and we will love him for the rest of our lives.

Robert was a millwright by trade. He was resourceful, a mechanical genius. A jokester and a patriot, “a jack of all trades and a master of none.” He was A hell of a guy, everybody loved him. We loved his gregarious nature, ability to lend a dollar, a hand, a story or his time.

He was born in Collingwood, Ontario on February 4, 1949, the son of Clifford and Daisy Beacon, but thanks to Justin Trudeau and dad’s unwavering political beliefs, Alberta will keep his ashes. Let it be known he firmly stated "DON’T TAKE ME BACK TO ONTARIO!" We may not no what to do without him, but we definitely know what to do with him.

If you have time to lend, his treasured family is celebrating his life at the Perryvale Hall on September 16th at 1:00 in the afternoon—a simple goodbye for a simple man. We will offer a few stories, some songs, and a slideshow to make the men uncomfortable and women cry, followed by the classics egg salad and salmon buns, some pickles, veggies, and no doubt the best deserts in the county because Judy will make sure of it. We look forward to welcoming you to celebrate the life of Bob Beacon with our family.
