Christine (Christa) Berndsen
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Christa slipped away into the arms of the angels after receiving excellent nursing care at the Westview Hospice in Stony Plain.
Christa is survived by her husband of 54 years, Henry, two daughters, Sandra Schwarz (Greg), Nicole Dowler (Terry), as well as granddaughters Jordan (Brendan), Rylee (Christian), Sydney (Isaac) and Brooke, as well as Henry's extended family in the Netherlands. Also, two nieces and one nephew in Germany. She was predeceased by her father Clemens, mother Anna, brother Helmut and sister-in-law.
Christa was a kind and generous spirit devoted to the well being of her family and friends. She was a friend to many and gave freely of her time and talents as a homemaker, cook, knitter, volunteer, choir member and gardener.
While extremely saddened by her passing, we are eternally grateful for the love, caring and happy times we were fortunate to share during her lifetime.
Christa will be sorely missed by all who loved and cared for her. We are comforted in our grief by the knowledge that Christa is free of pain and confusion.
She is now resting peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May she rest in peace.
There will be a Memorial Mass for Christine on Tuesday August 8, 2023, 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (9850 148 St NW, Edmonton, AB).

Mr. Berndsen, Sandra, Nicole and family…I am saddened to hear of the passing of your mom. I often have wonderful memories of your mom from when I was a child. Her baking, gourmet lunches (sometimes just bread and sprinkles), the green carpet room that she kept immaculate and regularly raked to name a few. We had a lot of fun enjoying life and being kids in her home, thank you to her for that!
I unfortunately won’t be in town when you are having her funeral, please accept my condolences and know she was loved by many!

We are so saddened by Christa’s passing. She was a wonderful friend for so many years. We always enjoyed our many visits with Christa and Henry. We’ve especially enjoyed sharing breakfast together every Sunday morning for several years. We are going to miss that beautiful lady.
