Ida Rita Paterson (née Gagne)
Ida is survived by John, her devoted husband of 62 years, her children Judy, Angela, Wanda, John, Pamela (Tarek), and Warren, her grandchildren Brad (Colleen), Rolf (Sierra), Jennifer Leslie, Mieke, and Maerek, and her great-grandchildren Holden, Harley, and Kayden. She is also survived by her brothers Alfred Gagne (Grace), and Ned Gagne.
Ida was born at the Barrhead Hospital on December 30, 1937. She is predeceased by her parents Alphonse and Therese Gagne, her sister Eileen, and her brother Paul.
Ida took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family was important to her and she excelled at encouraging a close relationship between her children and their grandparents. Her interests included baking, crafting, travelling, gardening, camping, and nature. Many family camping vacations were enjoyed over the years, including a 1970's trip across Canada and one in 1978 across the US, culminating in a visit to Disneyland. Quite the feat with six children in tow!
In keeping with Ida's wishes, she will be cremated and interred at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lac La Nonne, Alberta. There will be a family-only service on the date of interment, yet to be determined.
A very strong woman that had significant prominence in my childhood life while growing up. A mother to a couple of dear friends. She will be greatly missed.
I send my sincere condolences during this time of sorrow. The Bible gives a comforting hope and promises that your loved one will soon live again in peaceful conditions on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more. (John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:4)
Our deepest sympathies to Angela and Judy. May the Lord fill you with His peace and strength.
Love from Yvonne and Bob
