Lorna Offet nee Hnatyshyn
Lorna passed away June 21, 2023 at the Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton, AB with family at her side.
Lorna was born in Legal, Alberta to parents Andrew Charles Hnatyshyn and Jeanette Victoria Beley. She attended the Drumheller High School and from there studied at the University of Alberta where she earned an Education degree. She went on to teach High School in both Lethbridge and Edmonton., leaving a lasting positive impression on her students and colleagues.
She was accepting of everyone and always tried to help in any way she could. A dedicated caregiver and friend she always put others first.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, partner, aunt, cousin and friend. Mother of two sons, a teacher, prolific artist, gourmet cook, wine maker and entertainer extraordinaire. Her talents were many and she loved travel. She warmed our hearts when we were with her, or she was in our thoughts.
She leaves behind her son Corbett Offet, granddaughter Myriah Martin, brother George Hnatyshyn, sister Andrea Dunn, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Lorna was predeceased by her son Gerald Offet, good friend Kenneth Cush, husband Alexander Vikas, and parents Andrew Hnatyshyn and Jeanette Hnatyshyn nee Belley.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 30 at Lorna's home from 1 - 4pm. Please join us in celebrating Lorna and all the joy she brought to our lives.
To Lorna`s family & friends. So sorry to hear of Lorna`s passing. My thoughts & prayers are with you. We grew up together in Drumheller and kept in touch all these years. Thinking of you. Marg (Christensen) Guta.
The whole Thursday Night Ladies group wishes to express our condolences on the passing of Lorna. For over 25 years this group shared weekly visits, being creative together, sharing life’s concerns and we have been giving emotional support to each other through thick and thin. Lorna was such an important part of our group. Her intellegence in the science world and politics always entertained and taught us. Her artistic skills brought so much beauty to the world and her kindness to others was so appreciated.
She will be so missed. Our friend is now in heaven with several other TNL – Marysia, Betty, Joyce, Ruth D. and Elsa. May they be enjoying art together in the clouds. Love from Eveline, Ruth H., Joan S., Joanne, Sheila, Oonagh, Joan W., Janine and Judy

Dear Corbett, Mryiah, George Andrea,,,I was so very sorry to learn of Lorna’s passing. We had emailed just 2 days before she went into hospital. We have lost someone so special,,, our Mother Theresa. We have been soulmates since we were 5 years old.
We must remember though,, not that our loved one has died but that she lived and enriched our lives.
Sincerely, Joy (Sorensen) Sjare
