Connie Lynn McKay
Connie Lynn McKay passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54 on June 14, 2023.
Born in Stony Plain on November 16, 1968 to Duncan and Louise McKay, she was the second of four siblings. She is survived by sisters Lorna (Ed) and Heather, and her brother Bernie. She is also survived by her uncle Ralph and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and sister-in-law Carrie.
While she possessed numerous skills and had many jobs over the years, she dedicated the last 11 years of her life to Weyerhaeuser in Grande Prairie. She resided in Sexsmith with her partner of 13 years, Don, and their dog, Dougal.
She had four children, Kelli, Sarah (Shota), Carli, and Kirsten (Max), whom she was immensely proud of and would brag about to anyone who would listen. She was a loving Nana to her grandson, Makoto, and was greatly anticipating the arrival of two additional grandchildren whom she never met, but who will grow up learning of their grandma’s love and kindness.
Connie was humorous and loyal, and her family was her everything. She loved gardening and being outside, and her cooking skills were incredible.
To honour her love of cooking, a private celebration of life with all her classic recipes will be held Saturday June 24th.
Our hearts are broken and she will be forever missed.
You well be missed by me and Patsy. We had some good times as neighbors. My hart goes out to Don sorry we can’t make it to say far well but our thoughts are with all of you that we’ll be there. Leo and Patsy.
I am so sorry to hear of Connie’s passing. I have fond memories of the whole family. RIP Connie ❤️
My deepest sympathies to the McKay clan. We grew up together and my memories of days spent waiting for the school bus and joining in our parents weekend sing alongs are thought of with fondness. I think of Connie as a dedicated sister and as someone loyal to her friends. She was clearly proud of her children. May the happy memories carry all of you through the hard days of grief. Sending my love.
My heart is breaking for you all. May fond memories help you through the difficult weeks to come! My thoughts and prayers Marina Van Imschoot ♥️🙏
So sorry for your loss. Condolences to the family. 🙏
Who in thier life hasn’t planted a peach pit just hopeing somehow a seedling would grow. And then they move on to some other adventure, and if it comes up we’ll they don’t even know. That’s one way of picturing Connie. You planted idea’s. You noticed somebody whose ❤️ heart needed attention and planted a positive feeling in there. That was part of your nature. You may not remember the kind and encouraging things you did. But everywhere peach pits are growing like crazy, and people are blooming. ( I know it-cause I was one.)
You were one of the first people I met working at Weyerhaeuser, we have some very fun and interesting memories together! I’ll cherish those. My hearts goes to her family who she absolutely adored ❤️
Sorry for your loss Heather Hugs too you
