Deborah Ellen Green
On May 20, 2023, after a brief and courageous battle with Cancer, Deborah “Debbie” Green passed away peacefully in her home, with her husband and son by her side. She was 70 years old.
Debbie (nee: McHolm), beloved wife of Raymond “Randy” Green, loving mother of Derek Green and his wife Tara, and devoted grandmother to their four children: Emilee, Alexa, Kennadie, and Brayden. Cherished daughter of the late Donald and Betty McHolm. Dear sister of Robert McHolm and his wife Julie, the late Michael McHolm and his wife Bonnie, and Jane McHolm. Adored aunt to her special nieces and nephews.
Debbie lived with a passion for adventure that led her around the world alongside her husband and best friend of fifty-one years, Randy. Having the opportunity to call 3 different continents home, was something that Debbie cherished. From Newtonville to Port Hope, England to Edmonton, and Chile to Mississippi, Debbie was truly grateful for the incredible friendships and memories she created along the way.
No matter where life took her, Debbie always approached the world with a big smile and a bigger heart. Her friends will tell you that Debbie lived life to the fullest and always brightened every room she entered. She loved to entertain and was at home in her kitchen with a glass of red wine, music, and an assortment of ingredients, eager to experiment with new recipes and create a beautiful meal to share with family and friends.
Her family will tell you she loved them with her entire heart and would never turn down a hug. The most sacred thing to Debbie was family, followed closely by friendships. She was never afraid to start up a conversation with a stranger, and often times, a simple “hello” to a couple sat at a nearby table, or an introduction to a new co-worker, led to endearing friendships.
Although Debbie is no longer with us, her memory will live forever in the hearts of those she touched.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for Debbie in Edmonton on June 4 th , 2023. A subsequent Celebration of Life will take place in Ontario for friends and family in the upcoming months, at a date and location to be determined.
In Lieu of flowers, please consider making a small donation to the Canadian Cancer Society at cancer.ca.

We extend our sincere to condolences to you on your tremendous loss.
We have such fond memories of our time working with Debbie.
She was a big part of our success and we are so grateful that we had the years with her before she moved to England.
It has been years since that move but she has remained in our hearts as a treasured member of our work family.
The Gilmer Family
Karen, Thanks so much for your kind words. Debbie always loved working at Gilmers and most of all she loved you and all her co-workers. We had 54 years of love and friendship and we managed to live and meet wonderful people in 3 continents. But most of all we had a wonderful family filled with many lovely friends! We had talked many times about how blessed we felt and we wouldn’t have wanted to change a thing. Debbie will live on in our memories. Thanks Karen, Randy
Dear Randy,
We were so sad to hear this news today of sweet and hysterically funny Debbie. Michael and I cherished our visits in Chile and Canada with the two of you, and Debbie’s warm and open friendship she clearly shared with so many she met. It personally brought us to tears remembering how you both went out of your way to visit us in the hospital after our June was born and we were so far from family. June’s first visitors and stand in grandparents for the day ❤️. We are thinking of you and sending giants hugs from the US, and an extra large toast for red wine as Debbie would do!
Dear Abbey and Michael. Thank you so much for your kind loving words and for mentioning your loving memories of Deb. She was an amazing lovely kind person that touched everyones heart that she met! I feel truly blessed to have had her as my lover and friend for over 50 years. Deb asked me to remember the song I hope you dance by Lee Anne Warmack and to please play it at her celebration of life. Debbie lived life to the fullest and always took a chance and danced. We have had an amazing life with amazing family and friends. we have always feel grateful and blessed. If ever up my way please look me up. As you know I have lots of room here for you to stay. Love Randy
Uncle Randy, Derek, Tara and Family,
I am soooo very sorry and honestly heartbroken to have lost my beautiful Aunt Deb. I can’t even really find the words to express how very special she was to me. Having such a special bond with her and sharing sooo many parts of my life with all of you is something I will cherish forever. I am admittedly struggling to process this but wanted you all to know that I love you all and will have Aunt Deb close to my heart forever. 💔 Love Forever, Sherry xoxoxo
Sherry, Thanks so much for your kind words and for letting us know how you feel. Your aunt Deb was a special lady and she loved you with all of her heart. She was always so proud of you and many times told me how much you reminded her of herself when she was your age. That is a wonderful compliment. Deb and I have had an incredible fabulous marriage, friendship and life. We have always felt blessed! Aunt Deb wants us all to have fond memories so her spirt lives on in our hearts. She asked me to comfort anyone struggling with her passing as she wanted everyone to cellebrate her life & she always tried to comfort and fix broken hearts. I love you Sherry, Uncle Randy
Randy I am so sorry for your great loss. Cousin Debbie and I always joked about which of us was older and I teased her saying it was her. It was me. I only ever remember Debbie as an upbeat happy positive person to be around even when we were kids. I can only imagine the pain you are all feeling right now. You do however have a wealth of great memories to eventually look back on knowing what a great life you built together.
Although the years took us great distances apart whenever we crossed paths one thing that jumped out was how proud she was of you and your son. May she rest in peace and May you find the strength to go on.
Hi Mark, Thanks so much for your kind words and loving message. Debbie always had fun around you and she always commented about what a kind person you were and how much she liked you! Debbie and I shared a wonderful life, an amazing family and we truly always loved one and other! You are 100 percent correct when you comment about how much she loved her son! In Debs eyes, Derek walked on water and still did til the day she died! I hope I can find strength from all the wonderful messages people have sent and memories of Debbie will always live on in my heart! Randy
