Gloria Hogue (Blonjeaux)
Gloria passed from this world peacefully on March 6, 2018. Born Dec. 17, 1930 in Edmonton to Eduarde & Gertrude Blonjeaux, the youngest of three siblings. Proud of her aboriginal descent and with a love of theatrics as a child, her mother encouraged her to perform song & dance in costume on various local stages.
Gloria began her Canada Post career in her early thirties as one of the first full-time female clerks at the main depot in Edmonton. She was a staunch union activist and for many years acted as shop steward for her section.
During her final 5 years, Gloria was a resident of Harvest House Alzheimer's Unit, Capital Care Strathcona in Sherwood Park where she was loved and cherished by both residents and staff. The wonderful care that she received by the HH staff cannot be measured but, what she received, she returned, and she will be extremely missed by all. Throughout her battle with dementia, she continued to be a social butterfly within her smaller physical environment. Her lifelong passion of theatre was so very prevalent in her many, many facial expressions showing all the different facets of her feisty personality.
Gloria is survived by her spouse Ted, her 5 children Claudia, Ron (Gail), DArcy, Gary (Joanne), Camille, numerous grandchildren, great & great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made either to the Recreation/Entertainment Fund for Harvest House, Capital Care Strathcona, 12 Brower Dr, Sherwood Park (780) 467-3366 or to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta & NWT, 10531 Kingsway Ave, Edm. (780) 488-2266. No service will be held and cremation has taken place.
