Ida Messal

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ida Messal on April 11, 2023, at the age of 87 years.

Survived by her brother, Reinhard Messal (Sandra), sister-in-law, Helga Messal and numerous nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her mother and father, Johanna and Edmund Messal, sister, Alfriede Berwald, and brother, Arnold Messal.

Ida was born on June 25, 1935, in Tomaszowska, Germany and immigrated to Alberta with her parents and siblings in 1955 to start a new life. Ida’s first job in Edmonton was working at GWG as a seamstress. From there she moved on to Sears, sewing custom ordered curtains in their drapery department. Upon retirement, she lovingly took care of her widowed mother at the family farm.

She will always be remembered for her caring, loving personality, her love of nature, fashion, travel and most importantly her devotion to Jehovah.

Ida’s funeral service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Funeral Home, 10530 116 Street, Edmonton with a reception to be held after. Interment to follow at Barrhead Community Cemetery
